Whipped cream makes me so happy... My mood instantly changes when I finish making a fluffy batch of blissful cream. I use the recipe with dozens of recipes from a simple topping for hot chocolate to layers within a strawberry shortcake!
To begin: Pour the whipping cream into your mixer. If you do not have a standing mixer, pour the whipping cream into a bowl and use a hand mixer for this recipe. You can use a bowl and whisk, but the manual process can be very challenging (and honestly tons of unnecessary hard work lol).
Turn the mixer on low and slowly pour the cream into the mixing bowl.
Let the cream swish around in the bowl for about minute- then add ¼ cup of sugar.
Turn the mixer speed up to medium/high and continue to whisk (If you are using a hand mixer, temper the speed so the cream doesn't fly out of your bowl).
Whisk until soft peaks form (approximately 3-5minutes).
I like extra firm whipped cream, so I whisk on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute at the very end.
Store in a mason jar and keep the whipped cream in the fridge. Your cream should keep for roughly 4-5 days.
Want to have a little more fun? Add flavors like orange extract, almond extract or food coloring! Of course I have Irish blood running through my veins, so I am always up for a little liquor in... ANYTHING :) The Barefoot Contessa has a splendid recipe that can be found here. Try your favorite flavors and liquors to personalize this recipe!
