Welcome to Brick + Nosh! I am Loni, the creator of this lovely place where I plan to put all things to satiate both home and hunger. It all started with my love of gussying up my own pad and of course, filling the tummies of my loved ones with yummy, soul-hugging food. Brick + Nosh is my place to bring my two loves together- and of course to all of you!
When it comes to the home, I'd describe my style as a little of this and a little of that (specific I know). But if you held a glue gun to my head, I'd say at my core, I am a modern girl who loves clean lines, industrial style, and always gives a nod to nature and romance. I think unexpected pieces, textures, and styles are gorgeous together and can really make a room both inviting and expressive.
As for food, I adore rich, aromatic flavors. I am currently experimenting with ingredients off my beaten path to create personal interpretations of classic dishes. I grew up watching my grandmother own the kitchen and I always wanted to be just like her. One day, I knew I'd find myself as the ruler of the kitchen with the pots, pans, and almighty Kitchenaid appliances as my faithful subjects. Together, we'd conquer Martha Stewart and The Barefoot Contessa or at least give them a run for their Viking stoves:) So as a result, on any given weeknight or weekend, you can find me in the kitchen playing with different food groups and seeing what sticks...or what totally falls apart. And no matter how great the photos look, there are definitely bloopers for everyone. Even Julia Child lost a souffle or two!
Here at Brick + Nosh, you'll see a few original recipes and some inspired from others. You'll see DIY projects and projects I wouldn't recommend anyone try, but me - because I'm crazy that way...I see no problem with heading to Lowe's and randomly deciding to build a staircase in my basement because it's a Tuesday. But perhaps what you can count on from B+N the most is honesty, because the reality is that every project has blunders along the way. Like life, it's never perfect and you'll always find yourself somewhere unexpected, but when you get to the end, it's always worth the ride - whether it tastes amazing or makes you want to burn your kitchen to the ground and move into a hotel where room service is endless.
So, let’s make a mess, a few disasters, and a lot of love along the way as we break bread and paint this house… TOGETHER!
